Voulez-Vous is the curious conversation people have with strangers or themselves presented with the question (Do you want to?). Observing people through their expressions, their silence, their ani- mation, their curiosity, their determination, their isolation or their socialization you begin to recognize a certain personality. Do you want to join in the conversation or be left alone?

The series makes a statement together but can be collected individually.
Each piece is floating within the frame.  The non-reflective glass gives the work a 3-dimensional appearance and looks as if the wispy brush strokes of paint are floating above the image.

The Melancholy Girls is my first book.  It is an illustrated, raw and authentic journey of the ongoing process of discovering myself as a women.  It's connects and inspires both a female and male audience.  Curl up with the girls and order your copy now.  Give me a call ~

I love observing people in social settings.  What I notice is how often they are NOT communicating with one another but rather starring in their own story of self in their individual little heads.

The Paper Bag Series was inspired by such observations in LA and London.  They are large scale interpretations of my personal experience watching people.  Charcoal, Pastel, Duck Tape and House paint on paper.

Eyes are the window to the world, the self, the soul.  Eyes allow connection if you remain open and willing to see.  I'm fascinating with people's face's, their expression, their eyes and the many layers of protection we build upon to keep safe, protected from things we don't understand or being so open to allow our vulnerability to be exposed.  A lot of people think these are self portraits and maybe they are in a way.  I don't try to capture my true image but rather try to capture what I'm feeling in the moment or a way in which to express a particular mood I've been wrapped up in.  These are medium size pieces of work( app. 36 x 36 inches).  Often they are painted, then scratched and re-painted again and again until I  have come face to face with a truth.

Then I went into a "Stick Figure" faze which a found pretty child-like and then created a series of "Balloon Men"and grouped them together to illustrate my interest in communication.  The group it titled "The Conversation.  From there, I played with simple silhouettes. Objects.  I could see I was moving into a quiet period which ultimately lead me to expressing stillness in "The White Series" which was my ongoing need to communicate what it's like to remain peaceful within the chaos of life and have comfort in the knowledge that everything was going to be all right.  So I created the last of these images by layering some color, mostly shades of red, then topping them with 26 layers of white, scratching through, layer after layer, uncovering the soul, revealing a secret, a truth.
